Merry Christmas To All of You & Happy Third Birthday to STT

Father Christmas

Spreading cheer where it belongs: Australia’s Rural Heartland.

Merry Christmas and Season’s Greetings to all of our dedicated band of followers, all around the World.

And it’s Happy Birthday to STT: Boxing Day 2015 marks 3 years of giving the beleaguered wind industry and its dwindling band of parasites and spruikers hell.

We’ve clocked over 1,177,000 views and given our loyal readers 1,180 posts – which spell out – in clear and simple terms – the economic and environmental nonsense that is wind power – and the harm caused to communities around the world by these things.

And, we keep picking up dedicated followers – more than 27,000 so far, from all corners of the globe, including a bunch of canny Scots, Canadians, Americans, English, Welsh, Irish, Cornish, Finns, Danes, Germans, Greeks and plenty from Downunder.

Those that watch us include lots of political staffers and journos. STT’s posts are a staple diet for the Cross-Bench Senators and their staffers, who have been using it as a trusted reference tool for their speeches, media releases etc. And even more so during the Senate’s Inquiry into the great wind power fraud.

Bloggers from wind-worship cult sites like – The Climate Speculator, yes2ruining-us and ruin-economy – can’t help themselves but sneak a peek at the only place in town where you’ll find out what’s really going on – and to find out what their nemesis is up to.

The wind industry is finding it harder than ever to put its case – principally because – apart from fleecing power consumers – it doesn’t have one.

When we started this time 3 years ago, STT was a lone voice in the Australian wilderness; and the wind industry thought it had a complete grip on the game.

Three years on, it’s clear that the wind industry and its parasites have not only lost their grip, they’re fighting for their very existence.

Our favourite wind power outfits, Pacific Hydro and Infigen are being pitched to potential suckers as corporate train-wrecks – after losing $700 million and $304 million respectively – in a single financial year, with Infigen blaming its colossal loss on the ‘wind’; yes, seriously – the wind!

In a panic-stricken effort to delay the inevitable imposition of $billions in retail power penalties for failing to meet the Large-Scale Renewable Energy Target (LRET), that once ‘set-in-stone’ target was slashed from 41,000 GWh to 33,000 GWh. Which begs the question, if the LRET is such a politically and economically sustainable policy ‘winner’, then why the need to drastically reduce it fully 5 years before it was to hit the original target?

During the wind industry’s first near-death experience, the Clean Energy Council (CEC) belted out a dozen press releases a day – so shrill, incoherent and internally inconsistent as to be nothing short of ridiculous.

While the CEC’s propaganda and hectoring struggles to get much column space these days, STT has been joined by a growing number of real journalists who are ready to help sink the slipper.

2GB’s Alan Jones has been solidly belting the wind industry since the National Rally in June 2013 – reaching around 2 million Australian voters every week-day through 77 stations around the Country.

Plenty of mainstream journos have picked up on the debacle that is Australian energy policy today: joining the growing National and International backlash against the greatest economic and environmental fraud ever committed.

In South Australia, Channel Seven’s Today Tonight has produced some truly brilliant exposés striking at the heart of the wind power fraud.

Well researched broadcasts on topics such as Steven Cooper’s ground breaking Cape Bridgewater acoustics study – that proved the adverse health consequences (such as sleep deprivation) caused by incessant turbine generated low-frequency noise and infrasound.

And on SA’s mass blackouts, caused by total and totally unpredictable wind power collapses; and on how the cost of trying to ‘depend’ on a wholly weather dependent power generation source is crushing families and destroying businesses – both large and small.

We’re not here to debate the wind industry – we’re here to destroy it.

Cause of death: suicide, not murder …

2015 has been a turning point in the battle to bring the great wind power fraud to a screaming halt.

European governments have run-out of patience with the eternal promises that the wind industry will grow-up soon, and no longer need a massive pile of taxpayer/power consumer subsidies.

The tap has been turned off in Spain: during the whole of 2014 there was a piddling 27MW of wind power installed (think nine 3MW whirling wonders) and NO new wind power installed during 2015 at all. Nordic countries have seen ‘investment’ in wind power plummet, as elsewhere:

nordic wind power investment

After David Cameron won an election in the Tories’ own right, he has literally crushed the wind industry by putting an end to all subsidies for on-shore wind power; and the insane cost of off-shore wind power guarantees that subsidies for that marine based rort will soon disappear, too.

The wind industry’s subsidy fuelled mission to cover every last corner of Australia in another 10,000 of these things has all but ground to a shuddering halt.

Apart from a couple of spots where operators snagged power purchase agreements with the ACT government, there is no new wind farm construction on the horizon.

Commercial power retailers haven’t signed any power purchase agreements (PPAs) with wind power outfits for over 3 years – without which wind power outfits will never get the finance to plant another turbine: FULL STOP.

STT has had it confirmed from power retail and finance sector insiders that commercial retailers are not going to enter PPAs; the banks are not going to lend for any new projects; and the banks that have lent, are all looking to call in their loans as and when the terms of their current lending facilities expire (many expired in 2015 and more do so in 2016).

The banks’ loan recall is what forced Infigen to cash in its US based wind farms at a fire-sale price; and why it and Pac Hydro have both been dressed up in the hope of attracting greater fools than those presently in charge of ‘businesses’ where the liabilities outweigh the value of the assets by a whopping margin.

With more loan recalls due this year, wind power outfits will need to refinance on terms reflecting the very real RISK that the LRET will either be scaled back (again), scrapped, or inevitably collapse, at some point in the near future – as the completely unsustainable economic debacle that it is. That means either substantially higher rates or no-finance at all.

Bankers love lending money where there’s solid return and good security. However, Australia’s money-men have judged the LRET as little more than a policy implosion just waiting to happen. Banker’s ‘returns’ are only as good as the long-term value of the security, which, in this case, entirely depends on a policy that has already been slashed once; and which will face the axe again very soon – as the $billion retail power penalties get passed on to already angry power consumers – starting early next year.

The fightin’ Irish on the warpath.

Pro-farming (REAL farming, that is), pro-community and pro-real power groups are better informed and organised, and more vocal and hostile, than ever before.

Hard-working, decent, rural people throughout the world are fighting back – to obtain sensible energy policies that support growth, development and vibrant, prosperous rural communities.

These are entirely reasonable people who have tumbled to the fact that they have been lined up as “road-kill” by their political betters to suffer the consequences of a policy built around an insanely expensive, utterly unreliable, intermittent power source – that can only survive on a raft of massive subsidies; kills millions of birds and bats; destroys communities; drives people from their homes; and otherwise makes life misery for thousands around the world.

These people are out to smash a “policy” that – in a few years time, when it all inevitably collapses – will be revealed for what it is: an enormous government-backed Ponzi scheme, the foundations for which are greed and stupidity; and the “justification” for which can only be described as a circus of the bizarre.

of the gang at your economy-and-community-killing service.

STT would like to think that we’ve helped these dedicated individuals and groups a little, by providing them with the kind of factual ammunition that cuts directly across the treachery, lies and deceit – which are the tools-in-trade for the wind industry, its goons and parasites.

STT was set up as a sanctuary, where the people who have been tragically impacted by – or who are fighting the threat of – giant industrial wind turbines can speak openly and freely – and without fear of vilification or ridicule. And that’s something we have no intention of changing any time soon.

We think compassion and empathy far greater virtues than self-righteous condescension. If it’s the latter you’re looking for – try Ketan Joshi, Mike Barnard and the wind industry’s other useful idiots, over at ruin-economy and yes2ruining-us.

Whatever “social licence” the wind industry might have had – wherever in the world they ply their despicable trade – disappeared long ago.

The bullying and threats used by wind power outfits and their stooges doesn’t cut it any more. These days, the town halls – where wind scammers “consult” communities – are filled with people equipped with the real facts: which means these people aren’t about to be fooled by set-piece lines, from former second-hand car salesmen, about thousands of local jobs, “free” wind power and new fire trucks.

In short, the wind industry – the product of nothing but lies and subsidies – lost the battle for hearts and minds in the bush (well, wherever it goes, really) – and, once lost, these hearts will never be regained.

STT thanks its loyal band of followers

We say thanks to our many operatives here and around the Globe, who keep us abreast of happenings in their various theatres of war. Plenty of our posts are based on what this band of STT Champions sends us, so please keep the Tweets, Facebook posts, comments and emails coming in 2016.

We know that you are using STT to help spread the message.

Once reasonable people are introduced to the facts about the insane costs of intermittent and unreliable wind power they cease to support it.

When they learn of the senseless slaughter of millions of birds and bats, and the tragic suffering caused to hard working rural people by giant industrial wind turbines, reasonable people start to bristle.

But, when they learn that – contrary to the ONLY “justification” for the $billions filched from power consumer and taxpayers and directed as perpetual subsidies to wind power outfits – wind power INCREASES CO2 emissions in the electricity sector – rather than decreasing them, as claimed – their attitude stiffens to the point of hostility to those behind the fraud and those hell-bent on sustaining it.

In our travels we’ve met plenty of people that started out in favour of wind power and turned against it. But we’ve yet to meet anyone who started out opposed to wind power, who later became a supporter. Funny about that.

As 2015 draws to a close, STT thinks it time to box up our festive loot, put our boots up and rest on our laurels for a moment.

But while we take a little break, we’ve pulled together a few of our top posts to remind you of how far the battle has come.

We’ll start with the Top Ten most popular posts for 2015:

STT went about this work for our Country – not for any reward – save knowing that we will help spare thousands from the misery of living with incessant, turbine generated low-frequency noise and infrasound – as well as helping to obtain an energy policy that works FOR Australia – not AGAINST us – as the current policy clearly is.

Thanks for your support – together – we will prevail.

STT hopes you all have a great Christmas and that you’re all ready to take it up to them in 2016. We are!

About stopthesethings

We are a group of citizens concerned about the rapid spread of industrial wind power generation installations across Australia.

  1. E Griffiths says:

A belated Happy 3rd Birthday to STT from the Wilds of Wales 😀 I couldn’t comment sooner due to a “thoughtful” neighbour turning off the power supply to a transmitter (which provides us with an internet connection) on their property before disappearing without a word over Christmas.

Belated Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year too. Our work is not done until all industrial sized giant fans have been dismantled.

My highlight of the year was Steven Cooper’s ground breaking work at Cape Bridgewater which really put the cat among the pigeons.

A more local highlight, was a comment a listener made on a BBC Radio Wales phone in program. He blamed all the giant fans blowing the planet off course for the present vagaries in the climate 😀 Sadly, the radio presenter rudely cut the contributor off before he could elucidate on his argument – I was really looking forward to hearing more 🙂

  2. Thanks for the informative posts throughout the year. I have a concern that the new PM may be easily led to give Wind Power a leg up to satisfy the greens and their ilk. I am sure you will be all over this next year so have a well earned break and when you return go get em!!!

  3. William Gray says:

Happy Christmas to all those at STT and its many supporters throughout the globe. The message re The Great Fraud is slowly sinking in with many people unaffected as well, so please keep up the great work and look after yourself. Regards. William

  4. A huge thank you to STT. I began my learning journey at this site in October, 2014 and although I may not comment much, I read every day.
My particular life-destroying industrial wind factory, with planning approval and congratulatory slaps on the back from our gormless local council and ticks of approval from the equally gormless Environment Minister, Greg Hunt, is supposed to turn the first sod mid 2016. We shall see!
Those who fought the project so hard know our final card in the game that will deliver us from this monstrous, evil invasion will be zero PPA’s in place and zero financial investment.

Merry Christmas to all STTers and a safe and secure 2016.

  5. “We’re not here to debate the wind industry – we’re here to destroy it.”
Your vision speaks clearly to our end goal…not just to have turbines turned off in rural Ontario, Canada but to see to it that they are dismantled and all materials are recycled.
Thanks STT for the help you have given/are giving and hopefully will continue to give us here in Ontario in 2016.
It’s been so uplifting….especially for people who are being bombarded on a daily basis by these turbines.
A dear friend just told me that from her bedroom window this morning, she counted 75 of these visible monsters…and despite our enormous efforts over the past nine months, to use proper protocol to inform everyone who is responsible for this ridiculous situation, the turbines that surround our homes/sanctuaries are all still running full tilt.

  6. Grahame BOOKER says:

Same to you. Keep up the great work.

  7. Great effort guys ……..may you go from strength to strength!! Take a bow……

    Chris Metcalfe.

  8. Terry Conn says:

Ready to ‘take it up to them in 2016’! You bet, the job isn’t finished yet – as Jonesy in ‘Dad’s Army’ used to say ‘they don’t like it up ’em’ – well, there’s plenty more to come and it has to be done ‘to save the planet from the biggest hoax of all time’. Great job STT and look forward to next year’s battle!

  9. Merry Christmas you amazing person/s!!!!!

  10. As some of the canny Scots, WEA would like to thank you, STT, for the enormous work which you have put in during the last three years, for the cracking posts, each one better than the one before, and for adding even more to our ‘green’ vocabulary. We wish you, and your followers, a very happy Christmas, a happy Third Birthday and a New Year where, indeed, we will all continue to win the battles in this War Against Wind, together, across the globe.

  11. Awesome job STT & merry Christmas to you too!😊 The information that you have provided over the years has been invaluable in helping people who have felt isolated to realise they are not suffering alone, to be informed with FACTS, to feel empowered & have the courage to stand up to the lies that the wind industry continues to spew forth. Thank you for the many hours that have gone into the daily articles & I hope you get to enjoy a well deserved break.

  12. Merry Christmas

    Happy Birthday

  13. Awesome job STT & merry Christmas to you too!!☺️ You have certainly helped people who may have been feeling isolated in their fight, feel stronger & more informed, with courage to face the lies that are spread throughout a community inflicted with ‘these things’! Thank you for the time & huge effort that you put into each of the articles that are produced daily. I hope you enjoy a well earned break!

  14. Grateful Follower says:

Oh, Infigen blames “the wind” for its losses? “The wind” has a lot to answer for. Queensland’s State Government is blaming “the wind” for not being able to apply its own noise laws to turbine developments. Sounds like a lot of hot air to me! Thank you STT.

  15. No Turbines says:

A big THANK YOU to STT and yes, please put your proverbial feet up and rest. We all need to prepare for another big year ahead.

  16. With “bango wind fraud” on one side of my farm and “rye park dont trustmpower” on the other .. STT is the backbone I need at the end of the day. Can’t thank you enough. . To everyone at STT and fellow readers stay safe through the holidays and we will see you when our mission recommences 2016…
