Economic historians will look back on the early 2000’s as an age of insanity, when crony capitalists and ideologues destroyed energy systems with glee, after driving the engineers, who built and ran the show for a century, out of town.
They will look back with a special form of bewilderment when it comes to the offshore wind industry: a ‘system’ incapable of delivering power on demand, but perfectly capable of delivering a truly obscene costs of construction, maintenance and operation – and sheeting all of it home to beleaguered power consumers and taxpayers.
