One of the myths pedalled by Australia’s self-appointed wind farm noise, sleep and health ‘expert’ (a former tobacco advertising guru) is that the known and obvious adverse health impacts from incessant turbine generated low-frequency noise and infrasound are a cooked-up “phenomenon”, exclusive to the English speaking world. Trouble with that little tale is that’s been scotched by the Danes:

And the Germans:

Now, back to Germany where – in the video below (it comes with English subtitles) – Heimke and Pieter Hogeveen lay bare their family’s daily despair at being unable to sleep in their very own home.
Ground down by incessant turbine generated low-frequency noise and infrasound, these people have constructed a ‘bedroom’ in their cellar in an attempt to escape their sonic torment; and sent their children to a boarding school in Denmark for the same reason. Clearly fighters, Hiemke and Pieter have enlisted two lawyers in an action against the wind power outfit responsible.
The video features the turbine host responsible for their daily suffering, claiming he suffers no ill-effects. Funny how gag clauses in developer/host contracts seemingly immunize those pocketing their 30 pieces of silver. However, when the hosts are touched with a little human conscience, they tend to tell an incredibly similar story to people like the Hoogevens:
SA Farmers Paid $1 Million to Host 19 Turbines Tell Senate they “Would Never Do it Again” due to “Unbearable” Sleep-Destroying Noise
The Speigel TV report covers the latest German research on turbine generated infrasound; details the tragic story of another farming family (Konrad Saum) who have also been forced to abandon their spacious family home – unable to sleep there due to incessant turbine noise and vibration; and retreating to a tiny holiday unit to escape the sonic torture dished out by 6 turbines neighbouring their farmlet.
Undermining the ‘Green’ spinner, Jaeger’s piffle about infrasound being used as a sinister plot by German ‘anti-wind’ groups (now numbering over 500) to derail his profiteering racket, is the work being done by health and acoustic experts, taking measurements inside homes that show noise and vibration way above and beyond the levels claimed to exist by the wind industry. This is way too familiar, when will this torture be stopped?? Surely if anyone will listen it might be the Germans? Shocking people should be driven from their own homes, my family are a prime example at Cape Bridgewater, Victoria. Instead of enjoying a well deserved retirement, my mum is being subjected to torture…where is the right in that?

THE ALIENS HAVE LANDED.
Imposing in there hundreds,
Such an army on display,
Those alien grey metal monsters
I saw while on my way.
Aliens on our shores have landed,
So tall, backs straight and true,
At night they watch through flashing eyes
Of red, at me and you.
Some have scaled the mountains,
Others near schools and homes,
Of one thing I am certain,
Those aliens have no souls.
No “whispering” from their ranks at all,
An unearthly sound they make,
It envelops each and everyone,
No more can humans take.
Three giant arms revolving,
Enveloping all around,
They’re here to ‘save the planet’,
The biggest “con” I have found.
Such hideous tall grey monsters,
Invade green and pleasant lands,
To stay for generations,
Unless the people make a stand.
These aliens feed on power and wind,
Without either, they will die,
They’re NOT environmental friendly,
They’re for profit, (at a cost), that’s WHY.
Those who promote the wind power folly are willfully or inadvertently, promoting the torture and, sometimes, the murder of wind turbine victims. Too strident you say? No. People who are day and night exposed to infra-sound vibrations from wind turbines are deprived of deep sleep and are thrust into a state of anxiety and depression. Some, particularly women who are home longer, begin to entertain suicidal thought. Some succeed in this tragic act. Do the promoters pay any attention to this? Do the psychiatric clinicians recognize this? Sometimes wind power welcomers fall victim to the lethal, inaudible infra-sound bath, and are buried after one week’s exposure, as happened in Ontario. My suggestion to these practitioners is to look past their prescription pads and recognize the real problem; patients created by wrongful technology imposed on their lives. And for that Professor of Sociology who is the darling of the wind power interests, Prof. Chapman, he wrongfully assigns the myriad medical complaints to the Nocebo Effect. While such a thing does exist in certain societies, like the voodoo and kahuna believing ones where EVERYONE believes in the effect of a powerful curse, the bombardment of hapless people by infra-sound is NOT THAT.
Great coverage by this German tv station. These stories are horrifying.
That self appointed expert – the guru – must sleep well at night and during the day to miss the evidence staring him in the face and pounding his ear drums.
Surely no one can continue to deny people are suffering from the different types of noise, sound and vibration these enormous man made machines are emitting.
To do so is to become less a researcher and more a mouthpiece for the industry.
Research and more research can only support the claims of such damaging effects of these utterly useless machines.
No one can accept the trauma is caused by some thing called a Nocebo Effect – which was originally coined to describe the opposite of Placebo which was described as giving someone a ‘sugar’ tablet and telling them it would make them better, but with the Nocebo is was giving them one and telling them they could feel worse. It was not coined as just telling them something would make them better or worse, it was coined by giving them something to ingest and telling them.
Nocebo has been misused or misinterpret to suit or explain something the that the industry or is friends cannot explain in any other way because they have not undertaken sufficient research or examination and taking into account all contributing factors.
With effects continuing to be reported by those living within range of these massive turbines, no matter where they are installed the emissions from them has to be taken into account, they cannot be ignored no matter what the industry or its happy chappies who drool at the thought of Industrial Turbines saving the world think.
Jacki, your comment is much appreciated. In Ontario, Canada we’re up against ‘moral coma’.
Here’s a recently published article on how CanWEA celebrated over the holidays. Check out the comments-especially the one about the horrible night spent by a victim the night before Christmas Eve.
Victims in Ontario are being ‘stonewalled’–still! The best the health care protectors have to offer is an invitation to victims who haven’t yet abandoned their homes, to participate in a ‘noise and dust’ study by keeping a journal of their misery.
