Stop These Things’ Weekly Round Up: 31 May 2026

The only inevitable result of the inevitable wind and solar ‘transition’ is the destruction of reliable and affordable power supplies. As night follows day, the chaotic delivery of massively subsidised wind and solar takes, once dynamic, economies from a pathway to growth and prosperity, and dumps them on the road to penury and perdition.

Wind and solar obsessed Germany springs instantly to mind, where the once great industrial power of Europe has gutted motor manufacturing, and much, much more.

Australia is well advanced in its efforts to de-industrialise, thanks to delusional energy policies of the same vein.

Which brings us to this week’s roundup.

Once again, Chris Uhlmann delivers a sad and sorry message (in a pod-cast format): Australia’s suicidal effort to rely on nothing but sunshine and breezes can only deliver economic, environmental and social misery.

On a somewhat brighter note, the team from Jo Nova reports on the massive collapse in “investment” and wind and large-scale solar. Apparently even subsidy backed rent-seekers can identify an usustainable scam by any other name.

Rafe Champion digs deeper into Australia’s self-inflicted energy disaster, using simple maths to make the point: wind and solar are simply leaching on the grid (and, he could have also added, taxpayers and power consumers).

Sticking with the numerical theme, Scott Grout delivers a helpful rundown on the metric that matters: how much energy is spent to generate energy in return – demonstrating that wind and solar simply ain’t worth the time and trouble.
