Stop These Things’ Weekly Round Up: 8 February 2026

The crony capitalists still profiteering from the great wind and solar scam have met their match with Donald J Trump. The 47th President of the USA has become their very worst nightmare. And the effects are global, with the US (almost total) collapse in investment in wind and solar capacity spreading fast.

One of the scammers’ tricks is to claim that the failure to spear thousands more of these things across the globe will end in catastrophe: environmental chaos; energy shortages; and all-round economic disaster. Well, that’s the propaganda pushed by scammers and the legacy press.

Which brings us to this week’s roundup.

After the US President ordered a blanket halt to the construction of these things offshore, 17 States and the District of Columbia sued the Trump administration claiming (as above) that freezing offshore wind permits would wreck their environments, economies and energy security.

The problem was, as Audrey Streb points out in this piece, the offshore wind industry and its co-conspirators among the Democrats have failed to marshal a single shred of evidence to back their pet narrative, leaving their lawfare strategy in tatters. Oops!

In this wide-ranging essay, Chris Uhlmann (by far and away Australia’s most gifted energy commentator) provides an update on the consequences of attempting to run on nothing but sunshine and breezes, drawing lessons from the self-inflicted energy disasters in Germany and Australia.

The team from Jo Nova reports on a University of New South Wales study (touched on by Chris Uhlmann in his piece above) that concludes the claim about solar panels lasting 25 years is little more than myth and propaganda. Instead, the data shows solar panels are lucky to maintain a useful life beyond a paltry 11 years, which makes solar power generation even more ludicrously expensive.

Gregory Lyakhov reports on the geopolitical consequences of allowing China to dictate global energy policy. Over the last 20 years the CCP has pushed wind power upon the willing and gullible in the West, all the while ramping up its coal-fired power generation capacity and building nuclear plants, hand over first. Strengthening its own hand, while weakening its global adversaries. All according to plan.

Irina Slav continues on that theme, focusing on how China continues to dominate the production of cement, steel and plastics – industries that the West has abandoned, on the premise that they can save the planet by wrecking their own economies while handing a gift that plays into the CCP’s Grand Plan.

Roger Caiazza describes a recently completed white paper by Richard Ellenbogen – based on notable lithium mega-battery conflagrations, detailing the catastrophic risk mega-batteries pose to life and limb, whenever they determine to spontaneously combust in massive, toxic fireballs.
