This is the second part of a 5-part interview with Mr. Tim Le Roy, spokesman for the Coastal Guardians. In this installment, Tim focuses on the impact that wind development has had on the communities he has worked with. He discusses the land-leasing strategies used by wind developers and the resulting inequity within the community. He also shares stories of property devaluations and the experiences of people trying to sell their homes post-wind turbine installation – only to be bought out by the wind companies themselves (6.36).
Farmers do not realise they are signing away their land and its usage to the wind companies. If they read their contract it will show them what the wind companies will not let them do on their own land. Is it worth the money?
