The wind and solar scam is just another case of easy come, easy go. Any idiot can spend someone else’s money. Turning a profit, is an altogether different matter.
That’s why the wind and solar scammers are like perpetual subsidy drug addicts. Cut the subsidy stream, mandates and tax breaks and the smart money soon drifts elsewhere.
By their very nature rent-seekers are looking to extract those rents from the political class, who gouge them from unwitting taxpayers, and keep them coming. Any threat to that supply chain, even on the distant horizon, is enough to send the rent-seekers looking for a different scam, somewhere else.
Which brings us to this week’s roundup.
As the team from Jo Nova explains, the phenomenon outlined above is alive and well in Australia. Notwithstanding the glib promises and phony guarantees from its Green/Labor Federal Government alliance, rent-seekers have lost their passion to sign up to a state-sponsored fraud they understand is well and truly over.

Lisa Linowes continues on that theme where, in the US, the rent-seekers’ propaganda wing is bemoaning the end game for its gravy train, using the same old hackneyed story about wind and solar being cheap and reliable, but not quite ready to stand on their own two feet.

Eric Worrall reports on moves by Australia’s Green/Labor Alliance to raid Australian’s mandatory savings retirement funds, with the aim of directing hundreds of $billions to the wind and solar scam, and in an attempt to resuscitate an already dying beast.

Paul Homewood provides a useful reminder of what happens when delusional ideology overtakes sound engineering: the uptake of heavily subsidised home-based battery storage is just another example.

We closeout with this X post from Jim Ferguson (video in the Show more link) which demonstrates that some ideas are so ridiculous that only intellectuals, politicians and bureaucrats can entertain them.
Stay tuned, STT will be back next week with more.
