Stop These Things’ Weekly Round Up: 15 February 2026

Spain’s 100% ‘reliance’ on wind and solar led to the World’s largest self-inflicted, total blackout, ever. Sure, wild winds and lightning will down power lines and plunge parts of a country into darkness. But, when sunset and/or benign, overcast weather are enough to sink an entire power grid, your obsession with intermittent wind and solar can only end one way.

The disaster was as perfectly predictable as it was perfectly avoidable. What was touted as an ‘unexpected’ collapse in solar output, killed the Iberian grid. The only saving grace for the Spanish and Portuguese suffering the greatest blackout in their history, was nuclear power delivered by the French.

Which brings us to this week’s roundup.

Acknowledging all the above, the French President, Emmanuel Macron dared to speak the unspeakable – as reported by the team from Jo Nova.

Wild claims about the effect of a naturally occurring trace gas (upon which all life depends) on the weather 50 years from now are at the heart of the great wind and solar scam. That narrative took a serious hit in the USA, with Donald Trump’s latest move aimed at dismantling the Climate Industrial Complex, as the team from Jo Nova report below.

Wind and solar obsessed Germany is renowned for having the “World Dumbest Energy Policy”. The script for Germany’s energy policy could have been lifted from Mike Judge’s devolutionary tale, Idiocracy. A world which is run by congenital idiots and everything falls apart. In this piece, Pierre L. Gosselin reports on how Germany’s gas shortage is literally bringing its (remaining) industry to its knees.

Belga News Agency reports on the pushback from the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and France in response an outrageous proposal to spear hundreds of these things next to war cemeteries and memorials that commemorate the hundreds of thousands of soldiers slaughtered in the battle for the Western Front in WW1.

Leslie Eastman reports on one of those embarrassing little moments the wind industry would rather ignore. Of course, slaughtering apex predators, like America’s Bald Eagle hardly ruffles any feathers amongst the wind cult. This time, the victim was sliced and diced at the University of Minnesota’s Eolos Wind Energy Research Field Station in Dakota County, Minnesota. Oops!
